Audrey Nell Rowan, age 87, of Sneads, Florida, passed away on September 21, 2026, surrounded by her children. She was born on July 20, 1939, in Dellwood, Florida. She was a devoted Christian woman whose life was marked by faith, family, hard work, and quiet strength.
Audrey married the love of her life, Herman Rowan, in 1960, and together they built a life centered on family and perseverance. In the early years of their marriage, they started a turkey business in Chattahoochee, Florida, which later grew into an egg production farm known as Rowan Poultry Farm. Audrey played an important role in every part of the family business. Her children came along in 1961 and 1964, and Audrey embraced motherhood with a tender heart and steadfast devotion. She was a homemaker in the truest sense, and she gave her time, energy, and love to her family. Selling the egg farm in 1977, Audrey and Herman moved the family to a cattle and crop farm in Jackson County. They retired in 1992 and moved to Sneads.
Audrey was known for her loving nature, her strong work ethic, and her ability to keep her family grounded through both good times and difficult seasons. Those who knew her will remember her as a woman who carried herself with dignity and who found purpose in serving others. Her life reflected the values she held dear, and she leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, and commitment.
Audrey was preceded in death by her parents, Walter H. Harrison and Ida Powell Harrison; her husband, Herman Rowan; an infant daughter, Patricia Rowan; two sisters, Lettie Pope and Wanda Brogdon; two brothers, Herbert Harrison and Donald Harrison; and a sister-in-law, Gracie Harrison. Their memories remained close to her heart throughout her life, and she now rests in eternal peace, reunited with those who went before her.
She is survived by her children, Melissa Rowan Owens and her husband Dennis, and Herman Kerry Rowan and his wife Laurie; her brother, Grover Harrison and his wife Mary; and her grandson, Matthew Tyrell Owens and his fiancée, Cassie Terry. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and other extended family members who will cherish her memory and the example she set. Her family was the center of her world, and she will be deeply missed by all who loved her.
Audrey Nell Rowan will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her unwavering devotion to her family, and the life she built through faith and determination. Her presence brought comfort and strength to those around her, and her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of her loved ones. They are deeply grateful for the dedication, support, and exceptional care he provided throughout the years. His compassion and commitment to their mother and family will always be remembered.
The family would also like to thank Stethoscope Staffing and In Home Care, as well as the many caregivers who provided support over the years. They became so much more than caregivers—they became part of the family. Their kindness, patience, compassion, and genuine love brought comfort to Audrey and to all who loved her. The family will always be grateful for the way they cared for her, treated her with dignity, and loved her as though she were their own.
